Room Tour: My Bedroom

Room Tour: My Bedroom

My gratitude to Dyson for helping bring this post for you, with the Dyson Pure Cool Tower Fan.

I hope you’re all settled in πŸ™‚ Starting off the weekend with a little tour of my bedroom for you guys. We’ll check out the pictures and talk through some stuff about how I put this together. Let’s go!

I’m not sharing a ‘Before’ because I realised I never really took one *facepalm* (but you can see the apartment tour here, from the time we had just moved in when it was empty). Here’s the first look πŸ™‚

This tiny, little space, gradually put together over the last one year. Our little center of rest and relaxation πŸ™‚Β

When I was trying to figure out out how I wanted this room to feel, I kept coming back to one thing: Organic tones, calm feels.Β

Bedrooms here in Australia are quite small and we pretty much come in here only to wind down at the end of the day or for naps on the weekend. Seeing that we pretty much only wanted to use this room for rest at night or to wake up fresh in the morning, keeping a calm, peaceful theme was the main goal for me.Β

My living room and office area are generally rooms where I keep a lot of color because I like having that energy around to feel creative during the day. Keeping soft colors, natural tones in the bedroom has helped feel like such a visual switch, kind of like compartmentalizing the day even through decor πŸ™‚

I’ve loved keeping things very minimal in here.Β

I bought this mirror secondhand quite some time ago from someone on Facebook Marketplace, it’s vintage and over 13 years old. Imagine, when I had messaged the lady who was selling it, she told me she had already committed to someone else (heart shattered immediately lol), but the next day that person didn’t show up, and long story short, she said it was mine if I wanted. I could not believe my luck. Nabeel and I drove down to her place, which was next to the beach, picked up the mirror, had coffee by the ocean, it’s one of my most favorite memories.Β

Back to the room tour after that story you did not ask for, here’s the other side πŸ™‚ I wanted to fill the space on the wall but again wanted to keep it quiet and calming so went with this macrame hanging.

I love a throw draped across the bed because for the supremely important weekend naps that we take as a duty at this point, they’re so great to throw on. Relaxing if you want to read in bed on a Saturday. Since it’s summer here, I’ve kept a throw in a light linen fabric; maybe in winters, I’ll switch it up to a thicker, cosier fabric.Β Β

I added a frame at this level as an unusual spot for art. I feel like doing one unexpected or unusual thing with your decor, no matter how small, sometimes elevates it in a really subtle way. I put a self-portrait of Van Gogh in it, which if you saw my trip to his exhibit last month, might make sense πŸ™‚Β Β

Seeing the room now might help you guys see why I did the closet in those tones as well πŸ™‚ To keep things seamless and flow easily.

I decorated along the windowsill very sparingly. Just enough to add some interest to that side but not too much to feel like clutter (to me). The branches are from the side of the road, from a weekend walk a few days ago. The terracotta pot is actually a glass someone gifted me that I put a succulent in. And the gold tray I’ll show in the video tour better, when I do it later.Β Β

I’ve always loved having a statement plant in a corner. If anyone remembers from my last bedroom, I had a palm next to my side of the bed. This time, I picked a Monstera and I just love how it looks.

This chest of drawers is quite bulky but it’s from Dubai times (and a bigger space) but because it helps keep so much of our stuff really well, we decided to keep it and not trade for a leaner cabinet. It used to be in our guest room/studio at that time.Β  Β

Also kept this elephant ear plant in the opposite corner as another statement piece.Β

Some more branches that I picked up nearly two years ago, also on one of my walks, and they’ve been lasting strong.Β

This mirror is also from Dubai times, and used to be in the guest room/studio as well.

This big bunch was also soemthing I picked up a few days ago. I collected quite a few different ones and arranged them with two artificial branches in between. I think it’s one of my favorite things in the room.

I love white bedding and even more so if it has a natural, relaxed feel to it. I bought this cotton one recently in a crinkled effect and it’s so soft. More than anything, I feel like the texture helps add an even more calm vibe to the room.Β  Β Β

But I do like to add color in the room from time to time through my bedding. So what I typically do is that I’ll change from white to a deeper color like mustard (you guys might remember from Stories). And after a while, go back to white to cleanse the palette. Honestly, this little shuffle works so well for me: Adding color feels like such a nice change, and then reintroducing white, feels like a detox. Maybe I’ll do a mini tour again, when I change this up πŸ™‚

I have a lot of my jewelery that I wear everyday arranged on the top of my dresser for easy access. Just a couple of days ago, I painted this old dish very randomly and love how it turned out. A friend of mine gifted me a journal with my name on it πŸ™‚ but because I’m not really a journal-er, I put it here and I feel like it adds such a nice decor accent and layer (yes?).Β Β

Really do love this art at this level πŸ™‚

The DIY heart candle I made on Stories a while back πŸ™‚

Closeups.Β

I’ve talked about this before, but keeping functionality is one of my most favorite things about decor. A well decorated spot means nothing to me, if I have to maintain it too much or if it’s always falling apart. I’d have loved to set up some cute things on this nightstand but since this is Nabeel’s side, I know it would’ve been just a hassle for him. It needed to have space for his things. So I simply just kept room for a lamp, whatever book he’s reading (since he reads every night), and his glasses. Minimal and light πŸ™‚Β

Here’s one of my other very favorite things: the torso vase we DIYed some days ago. I put some branches in it, and added a salt lamp next to it, to have enough light around the room for chilling at night. The cup with the rings was from the thift store and has an engraving on it from the 1930s πŸ™‚

Hope you enjoyed the the trip πŸ™‚

A very special thank you to Dyson for partnering with me on this post. The Dyson Pure Cool Tower Fan is a brilliant machine that not only has the ability to fan cool your home but also performs efficient air purification all year round. With intelligent sensing, the machine automatically detects airborne particles & gases while simultaneous reporting to the LCD screen and your Dyson Link app in real time. For those of you in warmer climates, this may be a better option vs. the one I shared last time. You can check out more details on it here. I’ll share some more on my Instastories so feel free to come join me there (my instagram here).

That’s it πŸ™‚ If you have questions, feel free to let me know. As always, I’ll be doing a video tour of the space in a few days on my Instastories, which in case if you miss, I’ll add to my ‘bedroom highlight’ (video tours of other rooms in my apartment are also in my highlights). If you’d like to my closet (right next to my bedroom) in more detail, the tour for that is right here.

If you enjoyed it, let me know πŸ™‚ Below, I’ve mentioned all brands and links (wherever possible) for everything that you see in my living room. Also, if you’re interested, I’ve dropped some links below to some more spaces from my apartment.
